Romantic, Real, and Bittersweet!

     P.S I Hate You by Lauren Connolly was the book I didn’t know I needed. This book was originally put on my TBR as one of my many Book Of The Month picks that was just waiting for me to pick it up. I read the majority of this book as an audiobook which I think elevated the story beyond what my imagination could have conjured. The voice actress really put her all into the characters which brought the story to life. 

     The story starts in a broom closet at our main character’s (Maddie) brother's funeral. I mean what better way to kick off a story than with being in a closet at an inappropriate event (I’m Talking about you Grey’s Anatomy) Maddie the ever chronic avoider of all feelings is answering a work email when she gets caught by her worst enemy and brother’s best friend Dom. Dom unveils the unexpected news that he was elected the executor of her brother's estate. The reading of her brother’s revealed Maddie’s worst nightmare (but a romance reader’s dream enemies to lovers meets forced proximity) her brother wanted his ashes spread amongst eight different states with none other than his best friend. And thus starts our journey!

     Now, Romance isn’t the only theme explored here but we have the exploration of difficult family dynamics, grief, and forgiveness. Overall this book gave me the same feeling as watching a very good rom-com when as you're watching you find yourself giggling and crying all in the span of an hour and a half. I highly recommend this book for those of you out there who need to do something other than watching 13 going on 30 for the…well 30th time.
